Institute for European Affairs is focusing on negotiations between Serbia and the EU as well as on strengthening the capacity of all sides involved in the process. Given the complexity and long duration of the process, the Institute brings together a large number of professionals and external experts with whom organises trainings, debates and other forms of capacity development. We want to contribute to enhanced understanding of Serbia-EU relations. The Institute provides multi-perspective trainings in order to enable active participation of professionals and citizens in the decision-making processes. The Institute actively advocates for fundamental reforms within the EU integration process and in cooperation with partners working on strengthening Serbia's capacity to face the challenges of the global world through collective action. The overall objective is active membership of Serbia in Euro-Atlantic framework for the benefit of all citizens.

As a part of program Youth Reconciliation Ambassadors, I held Peer-to-Peer education activity in Belgrade. For organizing workshop I ask NGO with I have been working with, Social Responsibility Initiative, to help me. This organization is also dealing with human rights, and was interested in program, so they gave me one of their workshop to give a lecture. Lecture was organized in the premises of the Office for Youth New Belgrade. Participants were some members of Social Responsibility Initiative, their volunteers and some other people. All of participants are the students of social faculties interested in this program.

Lecture had several parts:

  • In introduction I talked about youth Education Committee, what the organization do

  • Then I talked about Youth Reconciliation Ambassadors program, how it was organized, who were the participants, what were we doing, who were our teachers and which NGO and institutions we visit

  • In third part of lecture I talk about identities, especially ethnic (national) identity and their impact on our lives, why is important to be more tolerant. We also discuss how to improve images of region in world.

  • Finally, I left time for debate. In this part participants mainly talked. They were very interested in my experience in study visit “Come to Belgrade meet the Region”, but also we discussed about situation in our country when it comes to national tolerance.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERASocial Responsibility Initiative done the evaluation of my lecture and impressions of participants are good. They all sad that the workshop help them to find out something new and think that they will be able to use knowledge acquired in the lecture later.

I would say that, from my point of view, workshop went well, what moreover pretty good. Participants participated in the lecture; they could hear many new things that are applicable to life. I would say as Youth Reconciliation Ambassador, that there is need for more of this kind of workshop, so we could spread experiences and tolerance.
