My peer to peer education was held today at Faculty of Political Science, University in Belgrade. Participants were students of final year of International Relations, because I found very important that people who will have become academic citizens of Serbia by this time next year, spread the idea of peace in this region.
Firstly, I presented program Youth Reconciliation Ambassadors and its concept, after that I introduced participants with the work of Youth Education Committee and its mission in Serbia. After this beginning part we started discussion about peace in regions which had civil wars with focus on former Yugoslavia.
Secondly, even though our main topic was process of reconciliation we also had a constructive discussion about roll of women in that process. Most of participants were women and most of us agreed that in women’s nature is to be more calm and that very important role should be given to the women in peacemaking process.
To sum up, we agreed that young people should be engine of peace building and peacemaking because young people are ready for full cooperation in opposite to governing structures. I gave my best to make my participants start acting like reconciliation ambassadors in everyday situations.
