Anja was born in Niš where she finished “Učitelj Tasa” elementary school and the First Niš Gymnasium “Stevan Sremac.” During school time, she was engaged in peer education about addictions and prevention of peer violence.
She graduated in International Politics at Faculty of Political Sciences in Belgrade and is currently enrolled on Master studies of International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights Law at the same faculty. She is particularly interested in relations between the countries of the Western Balkans, LGBT rights and media law.
Anja’s first internship was at the Humanitarian Law Center in Belgrade where she gained experience in the work of a non-governmental organization, and after that she was an intern at the Public Affairs Office of the U.S. Embassy in Belgrade. As a student of CRD’s Human Rights Defenders School, she organized a street campaign in Niš with a goal to raise awareness about discrimination. She participated in many courses and seminars about human rights, rule of law, international law and transitional justice. She was also a volunteer in numerous sports events.
She speaks English, German, Spanish and Turkish. In her free time she is engaged in translation and sports journalism.
