Institute for European Affairs is focusing on negotiations between Serbia and the EU as well as on strengthening the capacity of all sides involved in the process. Given the complexity and long duration of the process, the Institute brings together a large number of professionals and external experts with whom organises trainings, debates and other forms of capacity development. We want to contribute to enhanced understanding of Serbia-EU relations. The Institute provides multi-perspective trainings in order to enable active participation of professionals and citizens in the decision-making processes. The Institute actively advocates for fundamental reforms within the EU integration process and in cooperation with partners working on strengthening Serbia's capacity to face the challenges of the global world through collective action. The overall objective is active membership of Serbia in Euro-Atlantic framework for the benefit of all citizens.

Application closing date: 15 March 2014

Venue: Skopje/Ohrid, Macedonia

Since its creation in 2006, the association Bourgogne Balkans Express is devoted to promote the ties between the European Union and the Occidental Balkans. Its objective is to raise public awareness regarding issues related to countries in the region and the prospect of their integration into the European Union. Following the tremendous success of the previous events, this year the association has decided to organize, in partnership with Sciences Po Paris and Youth Education Committee, an innovative conference aimed at young Balkan, French, and above all European leaders.

Through this new initiative, the organizers wish to raise public awareness in Europe, France and particularly in Dijon on the questions raised by the Western Balkans region. In addition, this year’s seminar will take place in a Balkan country, Macedonia, which gives a local dimension to the enlargement discussion as well as it reinforces the existing cooperation between Dijon and Skopje, twin towns.

While the association has already treated the subject of EU enlargement and its challenges on several occasions, this is the first time that an emphasis this strong has been placed on youth as a driving force of progress. During this seminar, the young leaders will have the opportunity to express and debate on their ideas, expectations and concerns of the European project and the enlargement process. The young leaders will be in contact with experts and politicians, but will also discuss among them comparing the ideas they have of the other, in order to put aside prejudices and stereotypes that could still be alive.
